Sowore’s Trial Resumes Today

The hearing of Omoyele Sowore, the convener of RevolutionNow protest, will resume today at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The trial is against a botched protest which was halted by the operatives of the Department of the State Security (DSS) as the publisher of Sahara Reporters was arrested and detained for several months in Abuja.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, who ordered his release last December, before he was re-arrested again by the DSS, adjourned the case till February 11, 12 and 13, 2020, for definite hearing in the trial.

Further checks confirmed that the court did not hold yesterday as Justice Ojukwu was outside her court division.

But the hearing is expected to hold today as all parties involved, including the judge, are all available for the trial.

Sowore and co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, were nabbed on August 5, 2019, by the Federal Government on the ground that the protest disrupts the peace in the country.
