The loss of his records in his Abeokuta residence has left ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo devastated.
The house, located in the Ita-Eko area of the state capital, was razed down by fire believed to have been caused by a power surge on Wednesday night.
Residents of the area and sympathizers who trooped out to the scene joined Obasanjo’s domestic workers in the house to put out the fire.
The good-spirited Nigerians could not put out the fire, due to the harmattan breeze but officials of the state fire service succeeded in putting out the fire.
Fatai Adefala, the state Director of Fire Service, confirmed the incident and gave the assurance that the fire only touched the store and not the main building in the former president’s compound.
