Ibrahim Magu, acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), has stated that the life-threatening Coronavirus is caused by corruption.
He said this during the passing out parade of 281 cadets of the EFCC detective inspector course 5, at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna this Tuesday.
He said, "Corruption is the biggest strategy to humankind. Your Excellency, corruption is worse than all the diseases now running about. And I strongly believe, Your Excellency, that even the coronavirus is caused by corruption.”
This gathering had President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Nasir El- Rufai of Kaduna State, and Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State in attendance.
Magu further stressed his point saying that prior to his investiture as Chairman of the EFCC, the commission had 103 convictions in 2015, 195 in 2016, 314 in 2018 and has increased to over 1,218 in 2019 which he blamed on corruption.
