The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ekiti state has held a free medical outreach for members of the community.

The corps members, who are of the Medical Community Development Service Group in the Ekiti West Local Government Area, provided the free medical care to 189 residents of Eriro Ekiti under the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Development.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Emmanuella Okpongetter, said the health initiative for rural dwellers is part of the development activities by the corps members to reach out to people living in rural areas across the country positively.

The State Coordinator represented by the NYSC Assistant Director, Community Development Service, Mr Anthony Anabui, at the free medical outreach, lauded the corps members for the project.

The corps members treated beneficiaries for ailments conditions such as malaria, diabetes, and high blood pressure, free of charge.

They also provided necessary drugs to the patients for free in addition to the sensitization of a large audience about personal hygiene, among others.

The Elerio of Erio Ekiti, Oba Johnson Ademola, who described the medical outreach as a huge success, said the outreach’s impact on his community cannot be quantified.

The traditional ruler said the medical outreach was so organised and much appreciated.

“I will always support more of this any time,” he said.

The Ekiti West Local Government Area Inspector of the NYSC, Mr H.B Bolaji, expressed his satisfaction and appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to support the outreach to sustain it.
