The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Thursday, declared that the ongoing construction work on the Lagos-Ibadan rail line has been put on hold following the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus.
Amaechi disclosed this during a live television programme on African Independent Television (AIT) monitored in Abuja.
According to him, “If not for coronavirus we would have finished the Lagos-Ibadan rail, although the project is nearly completed."
He revealed that the project has been stalled because the "China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) workers are still in China,” following an order by the Chinese government.
This further brings doubts over its completion on the projected April deadline as announced by the Federal Government.
