Ogun State Police Commissioner, Kenneth Ebrimson, has allayed fears and debunked statements that identified the police as enemies of the students in the state.
Ebrimson, on Saturday, had a meeting with representatives of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) from various campuses of higher institutions in the state who attended a peace parley with the state police command.
According to him, the police are friends to the students and no harassment should be targeted at activism instead of real crimes.
Debunking statements that police harassed all students, he mentioned that cultism was the main issue and should be tackled.
Hence, no crime should be committed under the guise of activism.
“I need your assistance, I need your cooperation, particularly in the area of fight against cultism. That is the greatest challenge we have in this state; not armed robbery, not kidnapping but cultism and it thrives in tertiary institutions.”
The meeting, which was held at Ebrimson’s office in Elewe-Eran Ogun State, was summoned by the Ogun State government through the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Student Matters, Azeez Adeyemi.
