Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has been dethroned.
He was overthrown by the government of Governor Umaru Abdullahi Ganduje due to “alleged disrespect to the office of the governor and other government agencies.”
According to a press statement by Alhaji Usman, the secretary to the state, Sanusi II had breached part 3, section 13(a-e) of Kano state law.
The Emir, who was dethroned in the same manner as his grandfather, Sanusi I, was whisked out amidst rigid security in the palace by security operatives who were said to be heading towards Nasarrawa.
Alhaji Usman assured that a new emir would be announced soon.
