Senator representing Lagos West constituency, Solomon Adeola, has decried the spate of explosions in the Senatorial District.
The senator spoke regarding the recent gas explosion that rocked the state while also calling on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to urgently provide relief materials to victims who have been rendered homeless, with many in hospitals.
Adeola, who made the statement on Monday, through his spokesperson, Chief Kayode Oduanro, commiserated with the victims of the explosion. He added that relevant agencies of government should conduct a thorough forensic investigation into the cause of the explosion.
He further noted that there are many establishments with structures and products susceptible to fire and explosion, hence, serious attention to safety must be put in place across the senatorial district with its dense population
The senator, who is also the Chairman of the Senate Committee Finance lauded the contribution of the officials of the Lagos State and Federal Government Fire Services, NEMA, Lagos State Emergency Management (LASEMA), Nigerian Navy and Airforce as well as other security forces and ordinary Nigerians in managing the disaster and rescue of the school children.
He further called for more assistance, to reduce the weight on the shoulder of the Lagos State government.
