The House of Assembly in Nasarrawa State has made moves to suspend the Saving One Million Lives (SOML) Programme.
The programme which has a budget of 1.8 billion naira, was declared unconstitutional by the Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Balarabe, as it was not included in the 2020 budget.
The House committee on Health resolved to investigate the SOML budget and needs vigorously before any decision is reached.
“We have resolved that the activities of the SavingOne Million Lives Programme (SOML) in the state under the state ministry of Health are to be suspended for now.
“This is to allow the House standing Committee on Health to investigate SOML activities in the state because it was not captured in the 2020 budget and spending the N1.8b outside budget allocation will be unconstitutional hence the need to follow due process,” Balarabe said
