The Oyo state command has confirmed the abduction of the two daughters of the former Director of sports in defunct old Western Region, the late Chief Emiola Adesina.

The two victims, Pastor Omobola Adepoju, and Mrs Abiola Olukotun were kidnapped from a farm in Ibadan on Monday.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the women were kidnapped on Monday, on a farm in the Badeku area of Ibadan.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Shina Okukolu, has ordered his officers to switch to action.

Olugbenga Fadeyi said the Anti-Kidnapping Squad personnel, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, the Special Tactical Team, the Police Tactical Team, the Operational Puff Adder, the IGP Tactical Team and the Federal SARS have all been deployed to the area.

All squad have cordoned off the area and are carrying out a massive manhunt for the kidnappers in order to secure the release of the victims.

“I spoke with the squads and they are working hard,” he added.

A close family said that the funeral of ex-western Region director, Adesina, held a week ago. One of the victims, Omobola, came in from Atlanta, United States, and was with her sister on her farm when they were both kidnapped. The kidnappers have called the family to demand a sum of N100m.

One of the victims' husband, Mr Kitolu Olukotun, said, “the kidnappers were six in numbers according to one of my boys on the farm. When they called me, they demanded N100m. I told them to accept N1m because I don’t have the huge amount they demanded. But, they insisted they would not take anything less than N20m.”

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police said the entire community should be at alert and work with the police to put an end to insecurity.
