Wike To Lead Taskforce To Enforce Ban On Public Gatherings

David Ugbabe

The Rivers State Government has announced that its Governor, Nyesom Wike, will on March 29th lead the taskforce to monitor compliance on enforcement of the ban on public gatherings and places of worship.

This is due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases in the country which has led other states to place a ban on social gatherings.

This was made known by the Rivers Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Paulinus Nsirim, on Friday in Port Harcourt.

He noted that the governor would be accompanied by all the Service Commanders, Commissioner of Police and the State Director, Department of State Security (DSS), as “Any Church found to violate the directive of the state government will be closed.”

Meanwhile, in an effort to curtail the widespread of the Coronavirus, the state government had embarked on sensitisation of its indigenes.
