Happenings Newsletter: Clout Chasing Gone Wrong

How far will you go to trend on social media?

Itohan Ferguson

Plenty has happened this week, and a few individuals were humiliated on social media for clout chasing gone wrong.

An event of note is the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari's government for a second term. Beyond the ceremony's fanfare, was the humiliation the former Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomole suffered in the full glare of the international community, suffice to say he forgot himself and broke protocol and he was put in his place.

Oshiomole's political humiliation eclipsed the inaugural ceremony itself.

Another instance of clout chasing gone wrong is the famous relationship blogger's humiliation at the hands of Igbo house owner, Onye Eze Chinko.

If you haven't been following the story, Blessing Okoro was severely disgraced when she fraudulently claimed an Igbo businessman's house and deceived fans that the 8-bedroom edifice belonged to her.

About clout chasing? Nigerian footballer, Emenike and his wife Iheoma are hiding what rumour mongers are calling a marital crisis behind an anniversary publicity stunt.
