Burna Boy: Why Quitting Social Media Is A Bad Move (Opinion)

Burna boy announced a few days ago that he will be leaving social media and leaving his accounts for his management to take control of, with posts focusing mainly on promotional details about his music, tours and other music related business.

This is standard practice amongst well established stars like Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, amongst others as it helps them focus on what is important which is music, thus cutting off the adverse effects of dealing with social media trolls.

While this is commendable, it seems like a bad business move. Burna boy has a bad boy image and a sort of unhinged persona on social media which helps his image and acceptability, almost like the Kanye of Nigeria. We would all agree that Kanye's rants help propel his image even further. It has an appeal that transcends marriage and fatherhood, especially since they are both in a music genre of rap. So, it aligns.

Burna boy off social media will dampen his entire persona and somewhat dilute his image to coming off as soft instead of the bad bad boy image we love and crave. But regardless, let's see how long this will last.
