Advice to young Nigerians?
Do not be in a hurry. These days everyone wants to ride a hummer jeep, wants to be like Wizkid… A lot of young people have cut short their careers because of over ambition. I came into Lagos 30 years ago with no house, no car, squatting somewhere in Ebute metta. Never knew one day I’ll be where I am today.
So if you have a focus, just pursue your dream and be patient about it. Patience is a virtue and I think young people should learn to be patient.
If you could change one in the banking sector what would it be?
There are a lot of changes I would have loved to make, but since you say one – Make the sector more attractive, more investor friendly in terms of CBN policies. Open the banking space so you can have the confidence of share holders. Right now the Nigerian economy is under banked, we still have people quite a lot of people that still keep their money under their pillow. So, you open up the banking space and that would have a positive effect on the economy.
How do you feel being chosen as one of the 100 Most Influential Deltans?
Well, when I saw my name, I least expected it. I’m flattered and humbled to have to picked as one of the 100 Most Inflential Deltans.
