Ahead of Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly elections, popular Fuji lord, Abass Akande Obesere, along with some other members, have dumped People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors were, on Tuesday, received by the Lagos State APC Chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun.

Other members who dumped the opposition, having lost confidence in the party after the defeat, included Kayode Olabode, the PDP candidate for Lagos West Senatorial district, and Mary Dominance, a candidate of the Action Democratic Party for Apapa Federal Constituency.

While the Coordinator of Non-Indigenes in Lagos, Linda Famoroti, and Lagos State Coordinator for Artikulated Agenda, Adeniyi Abiola, were also among the decampees welcomed into the party to work for the victory of the party on Saturday.

Balogun, while addressing the defectors, appreciated their decision to join the ruling party, adding that APC would definitely dominate Saturday’s governorship and State House of Assembly elections and win with a wide margin.

“I am happy because Obesere finally migrated into the party willingly.

“Our (governorship) candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been in the cabinet since the administration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“He knows about governance unlike the candidate of the other party that has not been able to say his vision about governance in the state.

“Lagos is not what you can use for experimental course like Economics 101 in the university.

“Since the time of Asiwaju in 1999, Lagos has been working and moving forward. You cannot compare that with the candidate of the PDP, Jimi Agbaje.

“Apart from his private business, he has not been in government. Lagos’ economy cannot be the one to be used for experiment,” Balogun stated.

The prominent among them, Abass Akande, noted that he moved to the ruling party with his fans, code-named: 19/23 Consolidation Group.

Obesere, in his remarks, saluted the party’s leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the former Lagos State Governor is a generous man who has always worked for the interest of the public.
