Akpabio Eats Humble Pie, Reconciles With Arch Rival Rotimi Amaechi in Abuja

Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, have ended their long time feud.

Sources allege that theirs have been a long standing battle of supremacy over who controlled the South South region.

However Akpabio sensing danger in his political relevance had to quickly align with Amaechi to ensure he gets a ministerial appointment after his failure to return to the national assembly for a second term.

The reconciliation meeting which took place on Sunday night in Abuja was said to have been brokered by the All Progressive Congress chieftains, Alhaji Nasiru Danu and Festus Keyamo, the Driector, Strategic Communications of the ruling party.

Festus Keyamo in his statement released on Monday revealed that the peace meeting lasted for several hours at the private residence of Alhaji Danu in Asokoro area of Abuja.

The meeting which was called by the former Senate Minority Leader, according to the celebrated lawyer, deliberated on various disagreements during their days as state governors in PDP and the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.

They also discussed and analyzed the performance of the party in the South-South region in the just-concluded election and identified areas where things went wrong and how to improve those areas in future.

At the end, both leaders agreed to close ranks and work in unison for the overall interest of the party in the country.

They also promised to put behind them, all previous perceived misgivings between them and to give a positive direction to the teeming supporters of the party across the country.

The two witnesses at the meeting were Alhaji Nasiru Danu and Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN
