The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhmmadu Buhari, has decided to extend the service of Mr Ahmed Idris, who is the Accountant General of the Federation. Ahmed served as the AGF from 2015-2019.
In accordance with the law, section 171 of the 1999 amended constitution, Mr Ahmed was reappointed to a new tenure on Wednesday.
The President did not make this announcement himself. The director, communications, office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Wunmi Ogunmosunle, was the spokesperson that made the announcement on Wednesday in Abuja. She [Wunmi], on behalf of the presidency and the Civil service of the federation [CSF], read the statement to newsmen yesterday.
The statement read:
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the renewal of the appointment of Mr Ahmed Idris for the second and final term of four years as Accountant General of the Federation in clear accordance with section 171 of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria [As amended].
