Buhari’s Administration To Spend N1.5TN On Electricity - Osinbajo

N1.5 trillion worth of investments will be allocated to the power sector in Nigeria. This was revealed by the Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, during a courtesy visit to the Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien, in Delta State.

"Since assumption of office, we have invested so far in terms of support N700 billion in the power sector. Earlier, we invested N200 billion," Osinbanjo stated.

The vice president indicated that 900 milion naira has already been invested and an extra 600 million naira will be thrown into the project, as his administration hopes to eradicate any issue of stagnant electricity transmission in Nigeria.

The Asagba was assured and lectured by Professor Osinbajo, who explained the monopoly from an electricity distribution company he called 'Discus', saying that the government will ensure 'Discus' serves the people to the best quality of electricity and promised better days ahead for the economy of Nigeria if the issue of electricity is fully resolved.

Osinbajo also spoke about the construction of the second Niger bridge.

He said, "I was here six weeks ago to look at the progress of the work there and I must say that the project is going on well.

“I hope that very soon we should be completing not just the bridge, but also all surrounding infrastructure both here in Asaba and the other end of the bridge.”
