The Former Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, has been appointed as the chairman of a newly inaugurated committee on the internalisation of admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The committee is an initiative of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyele, who inaugurated the committee, indicated that the duty of the new committee is to come up with strategies on international admissions, foreign partnerships, academic programmes and also foreign language programmes.

These strategies would then be formulated into suitable policies that will attract foreign students into Nigerian tertiary institutions, therefore expanding the educational sector of the country, starting from the 2019/2020 academic curriculum.

Other members of the committee include: a former Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University, Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, a former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof. Olushola Oyewole, and seven others.

This would be Jega's second appointment since his return to politics in July. According to reports, Jega already joined the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) where he was appointed head of an electoral evaluation committee in the party.
