Governor Akeredolu Accused Of Bribing Judges With SUVs

The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has been accused of bribing judges in the state with brand new SUVs.

According to Pastor Adewale Giwa of the Awaiting the Second Coming of Jesus Christ Gospel Church, the act of giving out cars to chief judges in the state was not only corrupt but was unnecessary.

“It is very unnecessary and insulting to the institution of the judiciary for a governor to be buying vehicles for judges who are financially independent," Giwa stated.

A few days ago, Governor Akeredolu had presented 16 brand new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs to the Chief Judge of the state and other judges for their personal use.

While making the presentation on Wednesday in Akure, the governor said the presentation of vehicles to the judges was an indication that his administration will uphold its promise to provide the major workforce in the judiciary with a conducive atmosphere.

The vehicles were reportedly received by the state's Chief Judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Akeredolu, at the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure, and distributed to other prominent judges in the state.

The gesture has raised suspicion among the indigenes of the state, with many insisting that it was an act of bribery to influence the judges' support of the governor's administration.
