The former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba, who was impeached on corruption charges, is currently under house arrest.

According to reports emerging from Lokoja, the state capital, some heavily armed security men stormed Achuba's residence in Lokoja. They prevented him from going out and allowing anyone to come into his premises.

The house detention caused a major stir at the former deputy governor's area. Also, the internet has welcomed his detention as a good development and a step in the right direction in the fight against corruption.

The Kogi State House of Assembly had impeached the deputy governor on Friday over his involvement in gross misconduct.

Elder Achuba publicly confirmed his arrest on a Friday night show, tagged 'Democracy Today', which was aired on Africa Independent Television [AIT].

"As I speak to you, I am under house arrest. My security aide has been withdrawn. Currently in my house, security operatives from government house have taken over my residence. Nobody can come in and nobody can go out," Elder Achuba stated.
