Senator Udoma Udo Udoma Bags The Highest Honour In Japan

Bernard Femi

The former Minister for Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, has been awarded Japan’s highest honour for helping to strengthen bilateral relations and promoting friendship between Japan and Nigeria.

Udoma, a lawyer and former lawmaker, was the only Nigerian on the list of recipients bestowed with the award.

The Japanese Government presented the award of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star to Udoma, who is the first and only Nigerian on the list to make history.

Recall that the former minister had once served as Honorary Consul of Japan in Lagos from 2011 to 2015.

Udoma’s high level of leadership and transparency was noticed by the Japan consulate during his working days before he became a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015.

He has been a great character, playing an important role for many years in improving the Japan-Nigeria relationship even when he was appointed a minister.

Udoma’s contributions also extended to the promotion of bilateral trade and Japanese investment in Nigeria, making Japan the third-largest donor in Nigeria.

This role contributed to the advancement and expansion of Japanese investment in Nigeria.
