The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has asked the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to resign from his position after the president failed to hand over power to him before he travelled.
President Muhammadu Buhari recently travelled to London without assigning duties to his vice. Speculations suggest that the president and the vice president are currently at loggerheads for reasons not yet known to the general public.
In a statement by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, President General, and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the group noted that before the 2019 general election, President Buhari gave power to Osinbajo before he embarked on his leave of over 30 days.
You will recall that some weeks ago, about 35 of Osinbajo’s aides were sacked by the president. This act attracted a number of negative criticisms from Nigerians, who went to their preferred media to condemn Buhari.
Yoruba elders also urged the vice president to ignore critics calling for his resignation.
