The Kogi State Governor-elect, Yahaya Bello, and his deputy, Edward David Onoja, earlier on Thursday morning, received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission after winning last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

The formal presentation took place at the Professor Mahmoud Yakubu Hall, the headquarters of INEC in Lokoja, the state capital.

Bello and Onoja defeated their opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party with the total votes of 406,222 against PDP’s candidate, Wada, who scored 189,704 votes.

Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the National Commissioner in charge of North Central, while presenting the certificates, said the presentation was in line with the tradition of the commission, urging the winners to settle down for the job ahead.

Bello, in his acceptance speech, noted that it was the second time he would be receiving a certificate as governor.

He added that it would not be the last time he would receive a Certificate of Return from INEC.
