Ondo Guber Race: 1O Candidates Jostle For PDP Ticket

Funsho Akinwale

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidates, numbering about 10, have indicated interest in jostling for next year’s governorship election in the state.

The opposition party, with over 10 men, has set the motion, threatening fire and brimstone to dislodge the sitting governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, from the Alagbaka Government House in 2020.

The aspirants, according to reports, are mostly from Ondo South Senatorial District, the stronghold of PDP since the glorious days of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

The candidates, including the National Vice Chairman, Dr Eddy Olafeso; Chief Sola Ebiseni; Senator Boluwaji Kunlere; Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA); the former State Publicity Secretary, Mr Banji Okunomo, and the deputy governorship candidate in the last election, Prince Olu Mafo, have all indicated their interests.

From the Ondo Central District is the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede, while the former Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Mr Dayo Fadahunsi, and former Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Special Duties, Mr Femi Adekambi, are from the northern part of the state.

As it stands, no one is sure of the ticket until the primaries hold early next year.
