The Oyo State Executive Council, under the auspices of the new governor, Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday after a meeting, approved the reinstatement of 300 out of 1,803 civil servants that were sacked by Senator Abiola Ajimobi
This was made known by the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye, during a briefing with newsmen on the outcome of the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
According to reports, a committee was set up by Governor Makinde on the assumption of office to look into the cases of the sacked workers.
While receiving the report of the committee in October, he promised to reabsorb workers that were found to have been wrongly dismissed from the service of the state, according to the recommendations of the committee.
The council was said to have confirmed that 499 civil servants were sacked by the Ajimobi-led administration over fake certificates.
However, 12 other civil servants went to court to seek redress over what they described as unlawful termination of their appointments by the immediate past government.
In response, Olaleye reiterated that the state government would honour the court’s judgement and reabsorb them into the civil service.
