Former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, on Monday, was chosen to lead the 10-man committee that would put an end to the faceoff between Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the Emir of Kano State, Mohammad Sanusi ll.
The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, and Bello Masari, the Katsina State Governor, were also listed among the committee members.
Also included in the committee were Gen. Muhammadu Wushishi, Abdullahi Ibrahim Dalhatu Tafida, Umaru Mutallab, Ibrahim Gambari and Sharif Saleh.
The reconciliatory move is coming after a Kano High Court empowered Ganduje to dethrone any emir found wanting in the royal council.
This was after another court in November delivered a judgement in favour of Sanusi, faulting the process that led to the creation of the Emirates.
Before now, several attempts by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar II, and a few other northern elders to broker peace between them had failed.
