Governor Oyetola Signs 2020 Appropriation Bill Into Law

David Ugbabe

The Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, on Monday, signed the 2020 budget of N119.5 billion into law, stating that the government would stop at nothing to ensure its full implementation.

The budget was formally presented to the governor by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr Timothy Owoeye, in Osogbo.

Oyetola commended the budget while describing the size of the budget to be the most realistic.

According to him, the decision to prune down the size of the budget was as a result of socio-economic realities and the limited resources available to the state.

However, Oyetola pledged to continue to do things that would make life more meaningful and worthwhile for the people of the state, while assuring them of better days in 2020 and beyond.

However, he commended the leadership and members of the Assembly for their effort in approving the budget. He promised to maintain the existing level of understanding and cooperation among the three arms of government in the state.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Mr Timothy Owoeye, had earlier in his remarks, described the signing of the bill as unique, and noted that it was the first time in the history of the state that budget for the following year would be completed before the beginning of the year.

He also hailed the Oyetola-led administration’s commitment to fiscal transparency, accountability and sustainability.
