“Step Down Now!” APC Deputy Chairman Says To Oshiomhole

Funsho Akinwale

Mustapha Salihu, a member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress and the party’s National Vice Chairman, North East, on Tuesday, urged Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to step down as National Chairman.

Salihu dropped the hints while speaking with the media on Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

He disclosed that Oshiomhole is an illegal chairman unworthy of the opportunity to preside over any meeting until his suspension by the Edo State chapter of the party is over.

The statement was as a result of the just-concluded meeting of the NWC where Alhaji Waziri Bulama from Borno State was nominated and ratified as the national secretary of the party.

Salihu had wanted a candidate from Yobe State to emerge as national secretary, but his colleagues from the North East in the NWC voted for Bulama.

Salihu, in his address, threatened to report Oshiomhole to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Department of State Services and other security agencies if he continues to preside over meetings with the suspension order placed on him by the chapter of the party in his home state, Edo.

“I have seen a subsisting court order where he has been suspended from the party in Edo.

“They followed the procedure of suspension from his ward, local government, state and his suspension was announced and court upheld it.

“I have not seen any court that is vacating that subsisting court order. So, I am not recognising him as national chairman.

“He doesn’t have the right to call for any meeting,” Salihu said.
