The South-West governors are set to have a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari over the Federal Government’s declaration of Operation Amotekun as illegal.

According to informed sources, talks are ongoing among south-west governors to meet with Mr President this week to know his position concerning the security outfit.

Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation, had on Tuesday said that the security apparatus was illegal, noting that the Federal Government was not carried along while the outfit was being planned.

Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, while speaking on the issue said Nigeria is a federation and not a military government.

He added that South-West governors would meet to take a decision on how to resolve it.

“If that fails, we will go to court and allow the court to decide.

“We do not have to consult with the AGF to set up Amotekun.

“The President and the IG were already informed.

“The AGF should have been more circumspect before making the statement he made on Monday,” Akeredolu said.
