The Bauchi State government has on Wednesday, refuted claims by the "opposition" that Governor Bala Mohammed was bedridden in a London Hospital.
According to a statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, "The Bauchi State Government has noted with concern, rumours being peddled by some mischief makers suggesting that His Excellency, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed is bedridden and cannot be back anytime soon to continue to perform his leadership duties."
Mr Mukhtar said that the governor only had an appointment with his doctor in a hospital in London, where he had a minor procedure and after which he went back to his temporary abode that same day.
However, he noted that the rumours are the handiwork of the governor’s opposition. “Some members of the opposition have, in the wake of the ongoing Supreme Court case, unfortunately, insinuated that His Excellency is in the United Kingdom for the ‘long haul’ because of what they term to be his deteriorating health condition."
He stated that "this dubious line of thought exists only in the wicked and diabolical world of the rumour merchants."
Gidado stressed that “Our governor was away on a medical appointment with his doctor, had a minor procedure and returned to his temporary abode same day. He even had a road walk barely three hours after the procedure.”
Recall that Mukhtar Gidado had in a statement on Sunday night said Mohammed had been hospitalised while quoting the governor to have said, “I am in a hospital in London, but we strongly believe that Allah is sufficient for us and He is able and capable to give us victory! Cheers, success shall be ours Insha Allah! Cheers to you all.”
However, stressing that governor was in good health condition, Gidado said those who were active on social media must have seen a picture that the governor personally posted, “looking rested and cheerful.”
He said, “I can confirm to the good people of Bauchi State that our governor will be joining us soon, as he personally indicated in a social media feed this morning."
Meanwhile, he said that the governor extends his appreciation for the endless prayers, phone calls, and messages he has been receiving from the kind and loving people of our state in particular and other well-wishers across Nigeria.
