The Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Mr Osaro Onaiwu, on Wednesday, said he and members of his family escaped death when armed robbers invaded his Abuja residence.
Sources reveal that at about 1 am, the armed men, who were about five in number, stormed the compound located inside an estate around Games Village and shot sporadically before gaining entry into Onaiwu’s house.
Onaiwu expressed shock that the suspects could operate in that manner and escape from the area unchallenged. While speaking with journalists, he mentioned that the robbers made away with cash and valuables estimated to be over N100m.
Other items said to have been stolen include, trinkets, two televisions sets, and telephone handsets belonging to him, his wife, and their children among other valuables.
Although the Director-General said he was devastated over the incident, he was grateful to God that none of his family members was killed or sustained any serious bodily injury.
