The Supreme Court, on Monday, upheld the election of Aminu Tambuwal and Abdulahi Ganduje as the duly elected Governors of Sokoto and Kano States.

Justice Uwani Abba-Ali, in his ruling, dismissed the appeal of Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for lacking merit. He added that the candidate failed to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt against the sitting governor, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.

In Kano State, Ganduje also won today at the Supreme Court. Abba Yusuf’s petition was dismissed on the ground that it lacked merit.

Both Ahmad of the ruling party (APC) and Abba of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had approached the Court of Appeal respectively after losing at the state tribunal.

The legal battle between the two governors seems to have come to an end with the apex court ruling.
