Members of Nigeria’s House of Representatives have lamented over the spate of insecurity in the country and, hence, have asked the country’s service chiefs to resign as security issues have become incessant.

The lawmakers, during a plenary on Wednesday, contributed to the debate on insecurity across Nigeria while lamenting at the uncertainty of security of lives and properties.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Defence, Jimi Benson, expressed worry over the delay by the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police, and other agencies to tackle the insurgents

The lawmakers described the war against insecurity nationwide as a money-making venture for a powerful set.

Abubakar Fulata said, “It seems to be a cash cow for powerful individuals considering the fact that the war has raged on for more than 7 years."

Benson invited the service chiefs to brief the committee on the progress on security, while the lawmakers called for the replacement of armed personnel in the different parts of the country as their concerns brew.
