Former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulazeez Yari, on Sunday, called on the incumbent governor, Bello Matawalle, to desist from demolishing houses in the state or take responsibility for whatever happens.

Yari, who made the statement while receiving supporters of the All Progressives Congress at his residence in Talata-Mafara, assured them that their houses will not be demolished again by the Matawalle-led administration.

He gave the assurance following the state government's move to demolish the APC Secretariat in the Maradun Local Government Area and further marked many houses belonging to the APC supporters in the state for demolition.

The former governor further warned that if any house was demolished again, Matawalle would face mass protest from the APC supporters.

“Let me call on Governor Matawalle to stop demolishing the houses of the APC supporters in the state and if he doesn’t heed the call, he will be held responsible for whatever happens in the state," he said.

Yari further threatened to lead a mass protest should the demolition persist.

“I will personally lead a mass protest against Governor Matawalle if he dares demolish any house that belongs to our members and if he thinks I am joking, let him try and see," he said.
