“Amotekun Has Our Support,” Says Gbenga Daniel

The former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has commended the six south-west governors behind the Western Nigeria Security Network initiative, codenamed ‘Operation Amotekun.’

Otunba Daniel, who described the initiative as a wonderful idea, made the commendation during a courtesy visit to the office of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

He further described it as the response of the southwest region to the current security challenges threatening the peace of the country, ranging from insurgency, banditry, kidnappings and farmers-herders clashes.

“Amotekun is the response of our people in the southwest to the various security challenges that we do have nationwide,” he said.

He noted that the happenings in the country have only strengthened the agitation for the implementation of the idea.

“As a matter of fact, it should have happened years back. I am happy that this initiative has come and you can be rest assured that it has all our support, especially in the southwest,” Otunba Daniel posited.

Meanwhile, he commended the Oyo governor on the inauguration of park managers initiated in the state.

“I remember when I was a governor too, I set up what we called parks and garages committee and we tried to ensure that they professionalize what is happening in our parks and garages,” he said.

He, thus, noted the effort of Makinde to bring an end to the scourge of parks management in the state, adding that the initiative would enhance professionalism in the park management scheme.
