Bayelsa: APC Youths Ask Leadership To Apologize To Supporters

The Bayelsa All Progressives Congress (APC) Youths Vanguard for Real Change has called on APC leadership under the auspices of Adams Oshiomhole, its National Chairman, to apologize to its supporters for the embarrassment the nomination caused them.

They attributed the failure to secure the Bayelsa governorship seat due to the leadership’s imposition of a candidate with forged credentials on the state chapter of the party.

The Spokesman for the group, Comrade Johnson Dume, who spoke to journalists yesterday, queried why Justice Mary Odili was being blamed for deciding the fate of David Lyon.

“What is her role in our party’s screening and primaries? Is she the one who asked us to field a candidate with fake certificates?” he asked.

He said, “We should be careful not to worsen an already bad situation. People are beginning to see APC as a party that lacks due process and a political group of fraudsters.

“It was the same Justice Mary Odili who they now malign that gave judgment on February 13, 2020, to affirm Lyon and Degi’s candidacy. The sudden about-turn projects us as sore losers.”

It was gathered that suspected thugs have reportedly besieged the Abuja home of Mary Odili, calling her names for heading the panel, which nullified the APC’s governorship candidate David Lyon and his deputy, Biobarakumo Degi.

He further revealed that the Minister of State for Petroleum was aware of the forged document yet endorsed him with the aim of making the party lose.

He said, “We have it on good authority that Sylva knew about Degi’s forged documents, yet he went ahead to field him so that APC might lose.”
