The Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State, on Wednesday, urged Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to subject himself to the coronavirus test, after his close contact with Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recall, Kyari led other top Federal Government functionaries to the three-day Fidau prayer of the late mother of the governor, Hajia Hawau, last week in Okene.
With the latest development, there is apprehension that Bello might have contracted the virus, having had close contact with Kyari who has already tested positive for the virus.
There are reports across the state that Bello is also a carrier of the virus, which is the reason he isolated himself.
But the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Haruna, has dispelled the rumours.
“That is incorrect; please ignore such lies,” Haruna said.
The PDP, in a statement signed by its Director Research and Documentation, Achadu Dickson, said that the fight against the dreaded Covid-19 virus can only be won when stakeholders show responsibility beyond lip service and urged those who had contact with Kyari to go for test.
“We advise the governor to subject himself for screening to ascertain his health status for the safety of the state,” PDP said.
