Tennis star Andy Murray is getting married to his long-term sweetheart Kim Sears on Saturday and the street of Dunblane is buzzing.
The couple will get married at Dunblane Cathedral before heading to a reception at Cromlix House hotel, a venue Murray bought for nearly £2 million in 2015.
It’s nearly a decade since they met at the US Open in 2005 aged 17. They got engaged in November last year. Thousands of locals are expected to take to the streets of Dunblane, with local retailers marking the occasion with a set of novelty products including ‘love heart burgers’ and ‘big day bangers’. After watching him triumph and suffer adversity over the years, the town can finally relax as they turn out to wish their famous son well.
Murray revealed earlier this week that his fiercest tennis rivals and other big-name celebrity friends had not been invited, although former British number one Tim Henman will be in attendance.
In what will be a relatively private affair, it’s also believed that the couple rejected an offer of over £1 million for his wedding pictures.
