Demi Lovato dedicates ‘Warrior’ to Bruce Jenner

One night after Bruce Jenner opened up in an emotional, historic interview about his gender identity, Demi Lovato paid homage to a man she called a true “American hero” during her concert in New Zealand.

Lovato, who admitted that she wasn’t familiar with the 65-year-old Olympic hero until he began appearing on “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” told the crowd that she was performing “Warrior” in honor of Jenner because of the bravery he showed in discussing his decades-long struggle to find his true self.

“But I just want to dedicate this song… It’s so cheesy that I’m even doing this, but whatever. I want to dedicate it to someone who became an even bigger hero last night—Bruce Jenner!” she said.

“Never ever thought I’d dedicate a song to him but he was honest and he was open with his story,” she added in an uploaded video of the special moment during her show at Vector Arena. “No matter if you agree with it or not, he probably saved so many lives and educated so many people [about] transitioning into being a woman and being transgender and what that’s all about. So, yeah, I just want to dedicate it to Bruce Jenner.”
