P Diddy escapes charges of aggravated assault

It looks like P Diddy has escaped being charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly got into a fight with his son’s football coach.

However, he may still have to face some consequences.

Los Angeles County district attorney spokesman Ricardo Santiago said on Thursday the office decided instead to turn the case over to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office, which could file lesser misdemeanor charges.

‘We are thankful that the district attorney rejected felony charges in this matter,” defense lawyer Mark Geragos said.

‘This case never should have been part of the criminal justice system to begin with.’

Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the city attorney, confirmed his office would review the case.

Diddy was taken into custody by UCLA campus cops on June 22 after he allegedly attacked coach Sal Alosi at an athletics facility on the campus.

The D.A. disposed of the case in a day, which meant they viewed the charge of a felony as a weak case not likely to end with a prosecution.

Instead, the staff would like the 45-year-old Bad Boy For Life singer banned from the field.

Diddy was arrested for investigation of three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats, and one count of battery.

He was released from LA County jail late that night after posting bail.
