Apparently celebrity status can only get a little far! lol …Orlando Bloom’s planned visit to India on Saturday, December 19, to promote tourism in the country didn’t go exactly as planned.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star ended up being deported from the country after arriving in Delhi at 1:30 a.m. without a valid visa, the Economic Times of India reports.
According to the report, Bloom, 38, discovered on arrival that the e-visa he had applied for back in November, had in fact been rejected. He was deported back to Britain at 4:00 a.m. The following day, after the intervention of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, he was eventually granted a legal visa.
Politician Amar Singh, who is hosting Bloom in the country, told the outlet that the actor had no idea his e-visa was not in order.
“He had applied for an e-visa and didn’t get a reply. His office thought that he would get the visa on arrival,” Singh explained. He added that Bloom was feeling unwell when he arrived, but despite a doctor advising he be admitted to hospital for a stomachache, he was sent back to the U.K. on the next flight.
Having secured a new, legal visa, Miranda Kerr’s ex returned to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi airport on Sunday, December 20, when he was, finally, admitted into the country.
