Lagos State Reopens Quilox Nightclub

The king of nightlife, Shina Peller, has heaved a sigh of relief after the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency reopened his club, Quilox, on Friday.

Checks confirmed that the management of the celebrity hangout had signed an undertaking to comply with the state’s environmental laws, regulations, guidelines and standards.

The management, during the closed-door meeting with the officials, gave the assurance of total compliance and a commitment to ensuring that its clients properly park in designated areas.

The nightclub was shut down last week by Lagos State for obstructing the free flow of traffic on Ozumba Mbadiwe Street and other adjoining streets.

The closure, it would be recalled, led to the arrest of many of the club’s patrons, including the chairman of the hangout, Peller.

The General Manager, Dr Dolapo Fasawe, who led the operation, has confirmed the reopening.

“We are reopening the club for operation as it has fulfilled our conditions and complied with the extant law guiding its operations.

“The club was sanctioned and fined for environmental nuisances and we ensure total compliance before reopening,” Fasawe said.

He added that this would serve as a warning to other erring club owners to ensure that they operate within the bounds of the law.
