Kano Pillars’ Assistant Coach, Ibrahim Musa, on Wednesday in Abuja said the Nigerian league champions were ready for the 2015 CAF Champions League which gets underway next month.

Musa told newsmen on the sidelines of the ongoing 2014/2015 Glo Premier League Super Four Invitational Tournament that he was impressed with the performance of the club’s players so far.

“The players’ performance has improved compared to when this tournament started.
Although we still have some lapses we have to correct but as it stands now, we are ready to go to the continent and do Nigeria proud.
But we will still work on the lapses we noticed, so that we can have a strong team before the Champions League starts,” Musa said

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2013/2014 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions have so far won a match, lost one and drawn one.

Kano Pillars beat Dolphins FC 2-0 in their opening match on Saturday but fell 1-2 to the national under-20 team, the Flying Eagles, on Monday.

They went on to draw 1-1 with Dream Team VI, the national under-23 team, on Wednesday.

The Kano-based club is using the tournament as a build-up to the 2015 CAF Champions League.

They will face Al-Malakia of South Sudan in the first leg match within the weekend of Feb. 13 and Feb. 15.

The second leg match comes up within the weekend of Feb. 27 and March 1.
