Carlo Ancelotti and Brendan Rodgers top Manchester City’s wanted list

Carlo Ancelotti and Brendan Rodgers top Manchester City’s wanted list to replace Manuel Pellegrini as manager this summer, according to the latest gossip.
City keen on Carlo: Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has emerged as the favourite to replace Manuel Pellegrini as Manchester City manager, says the Daily Star. The newspaper also claims that Bayern Munich coach PepGuardiola isn’t interested in the job. Ancelotti is the preferred option ahead of Atletico’s Diego Simeone because he has experience of English football, having led Chelsea to the Premier League and FA Cup double in 2010.

Paper Round’s view: This sounds a bit comical, but football is constantly changing – and it all depends on how Ancelotti finishes the season. If he wins La Liga or the Champions League, he will surely hang onto his job. If he doesn’t win, and win well given the amount of talent at his disposal, there is every chance Ancelotti will be looking for a new job. Will City dispense with Pellegrini? Again, it depends how he finishes the season. Even if they don’t win the Premier League, it is important that Pellegrini doesn’t look like a coach who has lost the dressing room. Ancelotti to City isn’t so ridiculous. Money is no object at the Etihad Stadium.
