Harry Kane scores on debut as England smash Lithuania

Harry Kane scored on his England debut while Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Raheem Sterling also scored in an emphatic 4-0 win over Lithuania at Wembley.

Tottenham sensation Kane scored his first goal for England 80 seconds after coming on as a substitute as Roy Hodgson’s side eased to a fifth win in five Euro 2016 qualifying games. Wayne Rooney could have opened the scoring after just four minutes when Fabian Delph played him through on goal, but his side-footed effort hit the inside of the post before drifting out of play.

The England captain had his goal just two minutes later, however, nodding home from six yards out after Danny Welbeck’s firm shot was parried away by Giedrius Arlauskis and straight into Rooney’s path.

Welbeck made it two just before half-time when his deflected header trickled over the line before Raheem Sterling poked in from close range for his first international goal. That left Kane to crown the night for the home side, replacing Rooney in the 71st minute and squeezing a header just over the line 80 seconds later from six yards out after a precise cross from Raheem Sterling.
