Liverpool selling Balotelli to fund Falcao deal: Liverpool want Radamel Falcao and will take a big loss on Mario Balotelli so they can bring the Colombian in, according to The Star. Several teams want Balotelli, but not at the £16 million price that Liverpool paid for him. If the Reds want Falcao, though, they need to sell Balotelli. They’ll do just that, taking what they can get for him so they can finalise the purchase of Falcao, who can be had for £25m.
Paper Round’s view: Liverpool seem to have no interest in keeping Balotelli and there’s no way they’ll get £16m for him now so if they want to sell him, they’ll have to accept a loss. Falcao does seem interested in staying in England, just not atManchester United. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Brendan Rodgers thought he could resurrect the Colombian, but £25m is a lot for a striker nudging 30 years old and who hasn’t had a good season for two years. So having been burnt by their gamble on Balotelli, the Reds will probably restrict themselves to a loan deal for Falcao.
