Nigeria’s first national goalkeeper is dead.
According to reports, Sam Ibiam died at the age of 90.
The Ebonyi state native was confirmed dead by his son, Emeka Ibiam on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
Sam, who was in goal for Nigeria as it faced United Kingdom in a friendly match in 1949, died following a brief illness.
During his active days, he was known as ‘The Black Magnet’ as he represented the Nigerian national team then known as the ‘Red Devils’.
The late Sam Ibiam was born on April 4, 1925.
