Barcelona star Lionel Messi took home the award for best player of 2015 at the Globe Soccer Awards on Sunday, beating Cristiano Ronaldo and others.
“[I’m] obviously very happy but all these awards are for the whole club,” Messi said, according to Gulf News.
Messi had a magical 2015, leading Barcelona to five trophies, including the Club World Cup last Sunday. Barca also won the team of the year award.
On the national level, Messi led Argentina to the Copa America final, where it lost to host Chile in the summer.
The Argentine made 60 appearances for club and country so far in 2015, scoring 61 goals. The talented attacker could add another award in early January when the Ballon d’Or is announced.
