Nigeria has been drawn alongside Japan, Canada and Spain in Group B of the preliminary round of the 2016 Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup.

In a ceremony held in Zurich yesterday, Coach Peter Devdebo’s girls were handed a fairly easy pairing as they look to better their second-placed finish two years ago.

The Falconets begin the competition with a game against Japan on November 13 at the Sir John Guise Stadium, Port Moresby

However, hosts Papua New Guinea face a series of intriguing challenges against Brazil, Sweden and Korea DPR in a tricky Group A. They will square-off in the tournament’s opening match against Brazil on 13 November.

The eighth edition of the championship will run from November 13 to December 3, 2016.

The Complete Draw

Group A: Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Sweden, Korea DPR

Group B: Spain, Canada, Japan, Nigeria

Group C: France, USA, Ghana, New Zealand

Group D: Germany, Venezuela, Korea Republic, Mexico
